Can pregnant women use lavender essential oil?
It is not recommended for pregnant women to use lavender essential oil:
Miscarriage: Lavender essential oil has a muscle-relaxing effect on smooth muscles. Excessive use by pregnant women could stimulate uterine contractions, increasing the risk of miscarriage. Therefore, pregnant women are advised not to use lavender essential oil.
Allergic reactions: Lavender essential oil contains numerous plant compounds. For pregnant women with a history of allergies, even small amounts may trigger an allergic reaction and could severely impact the fetus’s growth and development.
Liver damage: Lavender essential oil typically contains volatile chemical compounds that are easily absorbed by the body. Overuse may cause damage to the liver and negatively affect the health of pregnant women.
