Product Overview
Osmanthus Oil is typically extracted from the flowers of the Osmanthus fragrans, also known as sweet osmanthus, which is different from the white-flowered variety commonly seen. The oil is obtained using solvent extraction from the golden-yellow flowers of the sweet osmanthus. Osmanthus Oil helps relieve headaches and fatigue and is an excellent mood enhancer.
It also serves as an effective air freshener. Whether used in a diffuser or mixed with water for indoor spraying, it is an excellent choice for air purification. Additionally, adding a few drops to foot bath water can invigorate blood circulation, alleviate foot odor, and treat athlete's foot.
Osmanthus Oil is gentle on the skin; even 100% pure osmanthus oil is unlikely to cause allergies, but due to its strong scent, it should be diluted before use.
Production Process
Osmanthus Oil is refined using steam distillation. Fresh osmanthus flowers are placed in a distiller with an appropriate amount of water. The system is heated to approximately 90°C and maintained at this temperature for a period. As the temperature rises, the essential oil from the flowers is released and carried with the steam into the collector. After cooling, the oil, being heavier than water, naturally rises and forms a layer on top, which can then be collected as pure osmanthus oil. Any remaining impurities and moisture should be filtered out before use. Professional filters or cheesecloth can be used to remove impurities, and antioxidants and preservatives can be added to ensure quality and shelf life.

Plant Source - Osmanthus
Osmanthus (Osmanthus fragrans), also known as sweet osmanthus or fragrant olive, is an evergreen shrub or small tree in the Oleaceae family, reaching up to 10 meters in height. The tree has a rounded crown with a rough, grayish-white trunk. The leaves are leathery, opposite, oval or lance-shaped, with serrated edges on young leaves. Flowers are clustered, 3-5 in the leaf axils, often blooming on new spring shoots and sometimes on two- or three-year-old branches. The flowers are creamy white, yellow, or orange-red, with a very strong fragrance. Osmanthus comes in several varieties: golden osmanthus, silver osmanthus, fragrant osmanthus, and four-season osmanthus. The fruit is a purple-black drupe, commonly known as osmanthus seeds.
Osmanthus is native to southwestern and central China and is now widely cultivated in the Yangtze River basin and southern regions. It prefers a warm, humid climate, is heat-tolerant but not cold-resistant, and is a temperate tree species. Osmanthus is a long-lived, evergreen tree that blooms in autumn and is known for its strong fragrance. Hubei's Xianning area has extensive osmanthus cultivation and is known as the "home of osmanthus." Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Guilin also have beautiful osmanthus forests. The wood of the osmanthus tree is dense and tough, with various uses.
